The 2020 Jaguar XE is a stylish and luxurious sports sedan that is not shy about performance. With a choice of two trims that exude solid horsepower and tuned agility, there isn’t much the XE leaves unturned. It starts with a low curb weight (1,515 - 1,589 kg) and a low height of 1,425 mm. This dimensional combination results in a platform that focuses on a performance that keeps spirited drivers in mind.
The XE features two engines that both offer plenty of power under the hood to match the XE’s sporty attitude. The base XE includes a 2.0 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. It offers an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds but also achieves a satisfying fuel economy of 9.8/6.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
The R-Dynamic has an upgraded 2.0 L turbocharged four-cylinder that increases horsepower to 296 and torque to 295 lb-ft. It reaches 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.7 seconds and attains a fuel consumption rating of 10.7/7.7 L/100 km. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Each trim features a host of dynamic system controls. These include All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), JaguarDrive Control, speed proportional steering, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVBB). TVBB balances the distribution of torque to support the XE’s cornering stability and agility. This provides a more exhilarating driving experience.
The sporty interior offers 1,054 mm of front legroom and 1,443 mm of front shoulder room. For a sports sedan, it has a roomy trunk that fits up to 411 litres of cargo. The 40/20/40 folding rear seats with centre armrest expands cargo configurations and rear passenger comfort.
